Resume Spotlight
The IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Vavuniya successfully organized Resume Spotlight on 17th May 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at TLH 1, Faculty of Technological Studies, University of Vavuniya. The session aimed to equip undergraduate students with practical resume-writing skills and enhance their career readiness.
The event commenced with the welcome address by Mr. Thiwanka Lakshan, Vice Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter, who welcomed the resource person, Chapter Advisor, academic staff, and participants while highlighting the importance of professional development.
The session was conducted by Ms. Masma Sajahan, Demonstrator in Information Technology at the University of Vavuniya and a graduate of the University of Jaffna. She covered essential resume components, effective formatting, common mistakes to avoid, and techniques for presenting academic achievements, technical skills, and extracurricular experiences. She also shared practical tips for preparing resumes tailored to internships and employment opportunities.
An interactive Q&A session allowed participants to clarify their questions and gain valuable career advice. Around 50–60 students actively participated, making the session engaging and informative.
As a token of appreciation, Mr. Thiwanka Lakshan presented a memento to the resource person in recognition of her valuable contribution. The event concluded with the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Mathuumitha Thevarajah, Secretary of the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter.
Resume Spotlight concluded successfully with positive feedback from participants, reflecting the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter’s continued commitment to enhancing students’ professional skills and career preparedness.
