Resume Spotlight

The IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter of the University of Vavuniya successfully
organized Resume Spotlight on 17th May 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the TLH 1, Faculty of Technological Studies, University of Vavuniya. The session aimed to equip undergraduate
students with the knowledge and practical skills required to prepare professional resumes and
strengthen their career readiness.
The event commenced with the Welcome Address delivered by Mr. Thiwanka Lakshan, Vice
Chair of the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter, University of Vavuniya. He
welcomed the resource person, Chapter Advisor, academic staff members, and participants,
emphasizing the importance of professional development alongside academic excellence.
The session was conducted by Ms. Masma Sajahan, Demonstrator in Information Technology at
the University of Vavuniya and a graduate of the University of Jaffna. She shared valuable insights
into resume writing, including essential resume components, formatting techniques, common
mistakes to avoid, and strategies for effectively showcasing academic achievements, technical
skills, and extracurricular experiences. The session also highlighted best practices for preparing
resumes tailored to internships and employment opportunities.
An interactive question-and-answer session followed, allowing participants to clarify their doubts
and gain practical advice on resume preparation and career development. Approximately 50–60
students actively participated in the event, contributing to an engaging and productive learning
environment.
As a gesture of appreciation, Mr. Thiwanka Lakshan, Vice Chair of the IEEE Computer Society
Student Branch Chapter, University of Vavuniya, presented a token of appreciation to the resource
person in recognition of her valuable contribution and insightful session. The event concluded with
the Vote of Thanks delivered by Ms. Mathuumitha Thevarajah, Secretary of the IEEE Computer
Society Student Branch Chapter.
Resume Spotlight concluded successfully with positive feedback from participants, who
appreciated the practical guidance and interactive nature of the session. The program reinforced
the IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapter’s commitment to organizing initiatives that
enhance students professional competencies and prepare them for successful careers.
