Open Day 2026 – Tech Waves

Open Day 2026 – Tech Waves was an IEEE awareness session organized by the IEEE Student Branch of University of Vavuniya, aimed at introducing students to IEEE, its global community, and the wide range of opportunities available for personal and professional growth. The session highlighted IEEE membership benefits, student activities, and how students can actively engage in technical and leadership pathways.

The event featured two distinguished guest speakers: Ladhushaan Sathasivam, UI/UX Designer at IYKONS Business Services and Former Chairperson of the IEEE Student Branch, University of Vavuniya, and Mithushika Murugamoorthy, Demonstrator at the University of Vavuniya and Former Web Administrator of the IEEE Student Branch. They shared their experiences, leadership journeys, and how IEEE contributed to their academic and professional development.

An interactive Q&A session was also conducted, allowing participants to directly engage with the speakers, clarify doubts, and gain deeper insights into IEEE initiatives, technical societies, and volunteer opportunities within the organization.

Overall, Open Day 2026 served as an inspiring and motivating platform that encouraged students to expand their knowledge, build connections, and develop leadership skills. The event was supported by IEEE Students, the IEEE Foundation Donor Supported Program, and YARL ICE CREAM.
