Unstoppable – Her, Winning from Failures

In celebration of International Women’s Day, the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Student Branch Affinity Group of the University of Vavuniya organized a virtual event titled “Unstoppable – Her, Winning from Failures” on March 8, 2025, from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM.

The event drew the attention of around 40 participants, including undergraduates and professionals, all eager to be inspired by the empowering stories of successful women leaders.

The session began with onboarding and a warm welcome, followed by the main highlight — a captivating Fireside Chat featuring two distinguished speakers:

• Ms. Rukshanie Vidyaratne – Asia Policy Lead (Regional) & Senior Program Manager at The Asia Foundation

• Ms. Roshelle Perera – Technical Lead at Sysco LABS Sri Lanka

This dynamic, podcast-style conversation focused on overcoming failures, resilience-building, leadership, and self-confidence. The speakers shared their personal journeys and professional experiences, offering powerful insights into turning setbacks into stepping stones and building the strength to move forward.

Participants benefited from interactive discussions, engaging activities, and a lively Q&A session, which enabled them to directly connect with the speakers. The event wrapped up with speaker appreciations and a virtual group photo, leaving attendees feeling inspired, empowered, and equipped with practical tools to face future challenges.
