IEEEXtreme – 24-Hours Competitive Global Coding Challenge

IEEEXtreme is an annual, global coding competition that allows IEEE student members to showcase their coding skills and collaborate on complex programming challenges. This 24-hour competition fosters teamwork, problem-solving, and innovation among participants worldwide. The IEEE Xtreme 18.0 competition, organized by the IEEE Student Branch of the University of Vavuniya with Shine Trade Center as the silver partner of the event, on the 26th of October 2024 at the University premises. The competition began punctually at 5.30 AM (00:00:00 UTC) on the 26th of October 2024 and ended at 5.29 AM (23:59:59) on the 27th of October 2024, gathered talented coders who engaged in this intense programming challenge with the support and guidance of their mentors and the organizing committee. A total of 29 teams with 58 participants registered, with registration open from 7th of October to 21st of October, 2024, among which 22 teams with over 50 attendees competed in person at the University premises throughout the event under the supervision of proctors Ms. P. Amrithaa and Ms. P. Rukshani. Coders tackled challenging problems while engaging in energizing interactive sessions and collaborative activities.

The event featured industry and academic visitors, a talent showcase, and round-the-clock support by mentors and volunteers. Top-performing teams —Black Pearls, She Supports, and Tech Triplum—were celebrated, concluding a high-energy, impactful experience that blended learning, teamwork, and fun.
